Masseter Botox is a non-invasive treatment for reshaping the square jaw area, by injecting Botox into the jaw-masseter muscles.
Would you like your face to get a narrower jawline without the use of surgical methods, completely non-invasive and without recovery? Botox can help you with that! This treatment is primarily known as an aesthetic and antiaging procedure for removing mimic wrinkles. However, it can also be used to narrow the lower part of the face, to go from a square face to a rounder and narrower V-shaped jawline.
What is botox masseter?
The masseteric muscles are located on both sides of the jaw and control not only chewing, but also its movements. They can become hypertrophic, that is, enlarged due to genetics as well as excessive activity (eg chewing gum). In men, they are naturally expressed and are one of the main characteristics of masculinity. On the other hand, in women, pronounced massete muscles create a masculine appearance of the lower part of the face, and women are usually the ones who want a narrower, rounded jaw. Botox injection into the masseteric muscles leads to their reduction and the lower part of the face becomes narrower, oval or heart-shaped.
In addition to aesthetic purposes, we also use botox massager for involuntary teeth grinding, which damages tooth enamel, as well as for the treatment of temporomandibular disorders.
Is botox masseter for you?
If you have a square lower jaw and a pronounced masseter muscle, and you want a narrower V-shaped lower jaw, then you are the right candidate for masseter botox.
We must also mention the method of reshaping the jaw area, which is the treatment with hyaluronic fillers. We use them when we want to add volume to the lower third of the face, tighten and contour the jaw area, and correct a receding chin. You can find out all about it on the Chin and Jaw Shaping page.
What are the effects of botox masseter?
You probably know some famous people and models who used to have a square jaw, but later appeared with a narrower, rounder and more feminine jaw. Exactly, the most common secret of that change is the injection of botox into the masseteric muscles. In the picture below, you can see how the lower part of actress Olivia Munn ‘s face once had a square shape, and then became narrower, more feminine and attractive.
After treatment, you can expect a reduction in the masseter muscle, a narrower jaw and a more harmonious facial appearance. Also, pain from temporomandibular disorder and bruxism (teeth gridnding) will be reduced. So, if you’re unhappy with your jawline, Botox could be the solution you’ve been looking for!
What does the procedure look like?
Before the treatment itself, our doctors will perform a consultation and a detailed examination of your lower jaw, i.e. the masseteric muscle. This is followed by a thorough cleansing of the face and application of topical anesthesia to make the treatment as pleasant as possible. Just injecting botox into the masseters on both sides of the lower part of the face takes only a few minutes.
After the treatment, you should not touch or press the places where Botox was injected and you should not expose yourself to physical exertion for the next 24 hours. The result of Botox treatment will become visible in about ten days and will last up to 6 months. As the effects of Botox gradually wear off, the muscles will return to their original state and the jaw line will become square again.

side effects? Contraindications?
Side effects are very rare and when the treatment is performed by an experienced doctor, the risk is minimized. Minor bruising and swelling may occur, but this usually subsides within a few days. You may also experience minor discomfort when biting or chewing, but this will also go away over time. Contraindications are pregnancy, breastfeeding, malignant diseases, neuromuscular disorders and tendency to keloid formation.
In which cases is botox of the masseter not the solution?
If it is determined that the cause of the square appearance of the jaw is the size of the bony part of the jaw, and that the muscle itself is not hypertrophied, then Botox will not have any effect. Likewise, if there is a greater excess of fat tissue in the jaw area, there may be additional tissue loss and an unsatisfactory aesthetic result.
