Restylane is considered one of the most famous and oldest brands when it comes to hyaluronic fillers. Thanks to the efforts of the Swedish scientist Bengt Agerup, in 1996 in 2003, Restylane saw the light of day and in 2003 became the first filler approved for use by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Its appearance brought a real revolution in the field of antiaging and aesthetic medicine.
Perhaps it is enough to say that from the moment it appeared until today, more than 50 million treatments with Restylane fillers have been performed worldwide. Also, over 300 scientific papers have been published on the properties, safety and results of these fillers, which speak in favor of the quality of these products.
What began so many years ago as a visionary idea, represented by a single filler, has grown over time into a whole family of Restylane hyaluronic fillers. Galderma , the company behind the Restylane filler, did not rest on its laurels from its initial success. For years, it carefully monitored and listened to the wishes and needs of its users and accordingly entered the market with new products.
Restylane fillers are created to achieve different effects when it comes to filling wrinkles, filling cheekbones or lips, shaping the contours of the face or raising the tone of the face. Also, each of these fillers is intended for a certain area of the face, which provides great flexibility in solving different problems. Thanks to the large selection of different fillers, we can now easily create an individual treatment plan according to the needs and wishes of our patients. Regardless of whether it is about removing wrinkles and lines from the skin, tightening, correcting asymmetry, restoring volume to the lips or cheeks or refreshing the entire face, Restylane fillers offer a ready solution!

What are RESTYLANE FILLERS?

Restylane fillers consist of hyaluronic acid in gel form. Hyaluron, i.e. hyaluronic acid, is naturally found in our body, which makes it safe for use and does not cause allergic reactions. One of the important roles of hyaluronan is to keep the skin and face tight, supple and hydrated by binding water molecules to itself. With aging, the amount of hyaluronan, as well as other important substances for the beauty and health of the skin – collagen and elastin – decreases. The face slowly begins to “fall”, volume is lost, folds are formed on the lower jaw and cheeks, deeper and shallower wrinkles appear. With hyaluronic fillers, we restore fullness and firmness to the skin and subcutaneous tissue, raise their tone, fill wrinkles and reduce signs of aging. Also, we can completely shape the contours of the face, e.g. cheekbones, creating a youthful and attractive appearance.
After being injected into the subcutaneous tissue, Restylane fillers blend completely naturally with it, then attract and bind water molecules to help maintain facial and skin plumpness. Restylane is gradually broken down and disappears from the body. The duration is from 6 months to 36 months depending on the type of filler, the area being treated, the patient’s metabolism and other factors. The results can be seen immediately after the treatment, after which you can freely return to your duties without the necessary recovery time! Restylane fillers also contain a certain percentage of lidocaine, a local anesthetic to make the treatment as pleasant as possible for patients.

RESTYLANE FILLERS – why are they special?

Like any serious filler manufacturer, Galderma uses special technologies of cross-linking hyaluronic acid molecules and their stabilization with a special emphasis on the results that the filler should satisfy. The needs and wishes of the users are clear – they all want the lifting effect of the filler, and at the same time they demand a natural appearance of the face, especially when moving.

This is why Galderma has developed 2 technologies:

  • NASHA™ technology, which creates a firm texture of hyaluronic gel intended for a pronounced lifting effect, i.e. tissue lifting. It also allows precise shaping for projection and definition and is used where a firmer product is preferred – eg. for lifting the cheekbones, contouring the chin and jawline.
  • OBT™ (XpresHAn) technology is used to create flexible and softer hyaluronic fillers, where a product that will allow the natural dynamics of movement to be retained is preferred. They are ideal for volume in areas such as the central part of the face, filling marionette or nasolabial wrinkles.

In other words, NASHA technology is intended for tissue lifting and contouring precision, while XpresHAn technology allows shaping, filling and maintaining natural facial expression. Understanding these technologies helps us understand how different fillers behave in the subcutaneous tissue, which is necessary to achieve natural and optimal facial treatment results.

RESTYLANE family FILER

The Restylane family of fillers includes Restylane Kysse, Restylane Lyft, Restylane L, Restylane Refyne and Restylane Define. Each of these hyaluronic fillers has special characteristics, purposes and achieves different effects.

Restylane Kysse

Restylane Kysse is the first lip filler made with XpresHA technology, which means that it gives them a natural expression with every movement – speaking, smiling, kissing. It gives subtle volume, hydration and beautiful color to the lips. The duration of volume in the lips is from 6 months to 12 months. It is also used to remove wrinkles around the lips.

Restylane – L

Restylane was the first hyaluronic filler and is still one of the most popular worldwide, also known as Restylane Classic . Restylane-L is an improved version of Restylane with the addition of the anesthetic lidocaine. Of all the fillers from this family, it has the widest purpose – it can be used to fill lips, nasolabial, marionette and other wrinkles, and it is especially suitable for correcting dark circles. Precisely, this filler is ideal for the lower eyelid area – it does not attract water, which avoids the “swollen look” and subtly corrects the volume. The achieved results last from 6-12 months.

Restylane Lyft Lidocaine

Resytlane Lyft was once known as Perlane . It is used to lift the central part of the face – cheekbones and cheeks. In addition, it perfectly and precisely shapes the contours of the cheekbones, and due to the volume it provides to the tissue, it is also used for rejuvenating the hands. It is designed with NASHA™ technology which means it provides a lifting effect, definition and projection with less volume. It binds fewer water molecules, and does not give a “swollen” appearance. The effects of Restylane Lyft last from 6 to 12 months.

Restylane Refyne

Restylane Refyne is a filler designed to fill shallower nasolabial and marionette wrinkles. Thanks to XpresHA technology, it completely blends with the subcutaneous tissue and the treated part of the face looks natural when moving. Results last up to 12 months.

Restylane Defyne

This filler is used to fill deep nasolabial and marionette lines, as well as to project and shape the chin. Since it is made with XpresHA technology, it also rejuvenates and helps you maintain your natural expression and facial expressions. The effects of Restylane Define last up to 12 months.

Restylane Volume

Restilane Volyme is a filler used to restore volume to the cheekbones, cheeks, chin, jaw and temples. It is a softer and more flexible filler, made with OBT™ technology, so that your face looks natural and beautiful both in motion and at rest. Yet it is firm enough to support the tissue, lift it slightly and give subtle contours to the face. According to clinical research, the duration is up to 18 months.

Restylane Lyft or Restylane Volume

Both fillers are used to compensate for tissue loss in the central part of the face, primarily the cheekbones and cheeks. The essential difference between these two fillers is in the production technology and therefore in the effects that are achieved. Restylane Lyft is a dense, firm filler that has a lifting effect and gives less volume. It is injected exclusively into the deep subcutaneous tissue. With it, it is possible to shape and make pronounced contours of the cheekbones. Restylane Volyme can be injected more superficially, unlike Lyft, it gives volume with the fact that the tissue lifting effect is slightly visible.

RESTYLANE fillers – treatment, results, recovery

Restylane hyaluronic fillers are proven to restore lost volume, fill lips and wrinkles, lift and shape the contours of the face, improving its natural features. During the consultation with our doctors, a detailed treatment plan is made and the appropriate hyaluronic filler is selected to solve your problem. The treatment is not painful, Restylane fillers contain lidocaine, so most of our patients do not feel any discomfort during the injection. The duration of the treatment depends on the area of the face being treated, the complexity of the procedure and the amount of hyaluronic acid injected. Lip filling takes about 20 minutes, while face lifting with hyaluronic acid takes up to 70 minutes. Recovery can mean milder swelling and, more rarely, bruising, which you must keep in mind when you want to rejuvenate and beautify your face with fillers before an important event.
