Silky, smooth and soft skin without unwanted hair is something we all dream about. There are many ways to remove hairs, but only laser epilation will eliminate them once and for all. Razor, wax and other methods are temporary solutions and are slowly becoming a thing of the past.
That’s why it’s time to seriously think about all the advantages of laser hair removal. And to finally schedule our treatment!
Laser hair removal is everything that other methods of hair removal are not and will never be. Only it will allow us to have soft and smooth skin forever. However, we want to put it side by side with other hair removal procedures. These are: shaving, waxing and electrolysis. The most important thing to mention is that all these methods are only temporary solutions and the hair will grow back sooner or later.
Shaving vs. laser epilation
We found information that one woman spends 360 hours shaving over 10 years, and as much as €3,000 for the purchase of a razor! And the average man spends 125 days of his life shaving! It sounds like a lot, but when you do the math, it really is. Okay, shaving might be the quickest and easiest way to get rid of unwanted hair. But what then? The hairs will grow back, the very next day they will appear and we can say goodbye to soft, smooth skin. Then we pick up the razor again. We know it makes us all sick to think about it. And the consequences that razors leave on our skin are not at all naive.
Hair growth
Ingrown hairs are the number one problem that comes with shaving. Folliculitis, as we professionally call this condition, is an infectious inflammation of hair follicles. Hair usually grows in areas of the body where there is frequent friction and sweating. These are most often the armpits, groin, thighs, hamstrings, glutes, and the back part of the back. This is an unpleasant and painful experience, and purulent pimples may appear in the infected area. Unlike shaving, laser hair removal will not cause irritation and inflammation. The laser penetrates the root of the hair and destroys it forever. And that’s how we finally solved the hair growth!
Irritations and redness
Rashes, irritations and redness on the skin are unavoidable for most of those who shave daily. Especially for people with sensitive skin. With them, shaving can really leave long-term effects on the skin. This is precisely why more and more people with sensitive skin are forever throwing away razors and opting for laser hair removal.
Appearance of pimples and acne
This problem especially bothers men who shave their chin and neck every day. The skin is easily infected, and in contact with external influences, small, but also larger red and white pimples appear. You definitely want to avoid this, and that’s why we’ve specially prepared a text about laser hair removal for men.
For women, shaving is generally reserved for the legs, groin, armpits, possibly arms. But what about the other hairs that need to be removed? We can’t shave the earrings, that’s clear. And laser epilation will permanently remove hair in the earlobe area in just a few treatments that last only a minute or two!
Depilation with creams and wax vs. laser epilation
Depilatory creams, as well as razors, only remove the superficial part of the hair. The root is intact and therefore the hair soon grows back. Most of these creams contain sulfur, which acts aggressively, destroying the hair and causing it to fall out. That is why the skin after this type of waxing is usually dry, itchy, dehydrated and needs deep hydration. Pimples are also a common side effect.
Waxing is most often synonymous with pain and moaning for women. And so it is. While depilation with creams is painless, depilation with wax is the total opposite. Wax, applied to the skin and then quickly removed, pulls the hair from the roots. And that’s the fate of the hairs at once. There are different methods: hot wax, cold wax, film wax for depilation. Whichever one we’re talking about will really remove the hair, but it will start growing back after three to four weeks. And then again we have to wait for painful waxing.
The consequences of waxing are similar to shaving:
- itching, redness, rash, but also allergies;
- hair growth;
- the appearance of underflow.
And all this so that the hairs would grow back in less than a month. Doesn’t sound like a smart solution. One of the alternatives is depilation with sugar paste, which is more suitable for people with sensitive skin and for depilation of sensitive areas. Of course, there are also various hair removal devices available that we can use independently at home. Here too, the hairs are plucked in the direction opposite to its growth, and that is why there is a big difference in hair growth.
IPL systems vs. laser epilation
IPL systems (Intense Pulsed Light) for epilation will remove the hairs, but they will grow back after some time. Such systems emit high temperatures that can also damage the skin. The light beam is dispersed and affects the rest of the skin, and the laser beam is controlled and directed at the hair follicle. The highest quality medical lasers remove up to three times more hair than IPL systems.
Electrolysis vs. laser epilation
Although many people think that laser epilation and electrolysis are identical hair removal procedures, this is far from the truth. While laser hair removal removes hair using laser light, electrolysis or electroepilation eliminates hair using electricity.
Electrolysis is a treatment performed using a special device with a probe on which a thin needle is placed. This needle is used to enter the root of the hair and with the help of electricity, the hair is destroyed. Unlike electrolysis, laser hair removal is a completely non-invasive procedure.
The treatment is usually painful and unpleasant, which is why a local anesthetic is used. After the treatment, the skin is swollen and red for several hours, and scabs may also appear. For the complete elimination of hairs, it is necessary to perform several treatments, usually more treatments than in the case of laser epilation.
In addition to electrolysis, there is also thermolysis, whose efficiency is 30%, as well as the so-called blend method, which is 50% efficient.
Why choose laser hair removal?
And then, when we consider all the other options listed, it’s crystal clear to all of us why laser hair removal is the number one hair removal treatment in the world. We can do it on all areas of the body, except the nose and ears.
We will only briefly explain, for those who still do not know how laser hair removal works. It is a medical treatment during which the hairs at the root are destroyed with the help of laser light. Laser beams of the latest generation pass through the skin to the hair follicle, and the heat they emit reaches the pigment of the hair follicle. The process of photothermolysis and destruction of the hair appears, along with its DNA record. The result: the hairs are permanently eliminated and no longer grow. Yes, it’s that simple!
Advantages of laser epilation
Today, 85 percent of women and 70 percent of men choose laser hair removal when they want to permanently remove hair. The efficiency of this procedure is up to 95 percent! The advantages of laser epilation are as follows:
- Safe, fast, effective and permanent removal of facial and body hair;
- The results are already visible after the first treatment: 20 to 30 percent of the hairs from the treated area have been removed. With each new treatment, the remaining hairs are eliminated, and 4 to 6 treatments are needed for the hairs to disappear forever;
- No rashes, allergies, irritations, which is especially important for people with sensitive skin;
- No more ingrowth of hairs, because they are destroyed at the root;
- Effective removal of light, dark, weak, strong hairs.
What is important for effective laser hair removal?
The most important prerequisites for effective laser epilation are the expertise of the doctor who performs it and quality medical lasers. In our office, we use two of the highest quality and most modern medical lasers that currently exist on the market.
Alma Soprano Titanium
Epilation of armpits with this laser takes only 1 minute, hair from one arm 2 minutes, and hair from one leg 7 minutes. That’s why this laser follows the slogan “Stronger, faster, smarter hair removal”. As many as 18 million people have so far eliminated unwanted hair precisely with the Alma Soprano Titanium laser.
- Due to the length of the wave beams it emits, this laser equally effectively removes longer and shorter, stronger and weaker hairs;
- It is suitable for epilation of all skin types, without fear of damaging the tissue or skin surface;
- The size of the probe allows us to perform the treatment quickly and efficiently. The probe adapts to all parts of the skin and all areas of the body, including the most sensitive and inaccessible;
- The Alma Soprano laser has ICE plus technology that pleasantly cools the skin. That is why the treatment is almost painless.
Lumenis Lightsheer Desire
Two different advanced technologies make the Lumenis Lightsheer Desire laser eliminate more hair, resulting in fewer treatments being needed. This laser removes up to three times more hair than IPL lasers.
- The vacuum probe allows us maximum results, and the treatment takes less time;
- It is intended for treating all types of skin, even very sensitive;
- It has a skin cooling mechanism, chillTip technology, which makes the treatment minimally painful. In sensitive areas such as the intimate area, groin and armpits, we also use an anesthetic cream, which makes the treatment completely painless.
