CO2 laser skin tightening

When we talk about rejuvenation, we often think of removing wrinkles or tightening sagging skin, but we must not forget the quality of the skin itself. It is equally important for the skin to be clear, in tone and without imperfections such as age spots, hyperpigmentation, acne scars or stretch marks. • If you want to rejuvenate your skin, make fine lines and wrinkles less visible. It is especially recommended for removing shallow wrinkles around the eyes and lips.
• For tightening sagging skin and strengthening tone.
• To improve skin quality, even complexion and texture.
• If you want to get rid of hyperpigmentation, acne scars, other scars or stretch marks.

After a detailed examination and cleaning of the face, an anesthetic cream is applied to make the procedure as pleasant as possible. It needs to be kept for about 60 minutes, and you have to keep in mind that the procedure takes longer.
Then, a CO2 laser probe is passed over the skin and microchannels are made with the rays to a precisely determined depth in the skin, while part of the skin remains untreated. This principle of laser treatment provides faster healing of the skin, so the recovery time after the treatment is reduced. The treatment itself lasts about 40 minutes.

Depending on the indications, the condition of the skin and the needs of the patient, we adapt different modes of operation of the laser. Candela CO2 laser combines different penetration depths of laser beams. Thus, it is possible to treat the surface layer (CO2RE Light) , the middle layer (CO2RE Mid) and the deep layer of the skin (CO2RE Deep) , but also to combine the surface and deep skin layers in ” CO2RE Fusion” . This is important because the effects and recovery times of the treatments vary.
The basic tightening and rejuvenation treatment involves treating the deeper skin layer – the dermis and the superficial – the epidermis. By targeting the dermis, we encourage the stimulation of collagen and elastin, which leads to skin tightening, stronger tone, reduced wrinkles and a rejuvenated appearance. On the other hand, the superficial way of working allows us to improve the texture of the skin, even out the tone and remove irregularities in the form of blemishes. Due to the combined mode of operation, peeling of the skin and recovery takes 7 days.

In addition, there is also the possibility of treating only the deepest layer of the skin and stimulating collagen production. The effects are rejuvenated, slightly tightened skin with fewer wrinkles, and due to the absence of skin peeling (the surface layer is not treated), recovery lasts 3 to 4 days and involves a slight redness of the skin.

After the treatment, you will notice flaking of the skin in the places where the laser beam passed, which can last for about 7 days. Immediately after the treatment, you will feel like after a sunburn, then the skin becomes dry, and after that the aforementioned flaking begins.
The recommendation of our doctors is the mandatory use of a protective factor throughout the year in order to prevent skin aging and photodamage caused by harmful sun rays. Especially after laser treatments, a high protection factor is mandatory, because the treated skin is extra sensitive to the harmful rays of the sun.

Depending on the indication for the CO2 laser treatment and the condition of your skin, the number of treatments is determined. The advantage of the CO2 laser is that with one or two treatments a year, the result is the same as with an average of five treatments with other lasers. On average, 3 treatments are needed for skin rejuvenation and tightening. The doctor’s recommendation is to do the treatment once every 3 months, because it takes about a month to create new collagen fibers.
CO2 laser treatments are performed from the beginning of autumn to the beginning of spring (October-March), in order to avoid photodamage and hyperpigmentation due to solar radiation.
